The 118th Derby Scout Group consists of Beavers aged 6 to 8, Cubs aged 8 to 10½, Scouts aged 10½ to 14 and host Explorers aged 14 to 18. The Group was founded in 1944 during the war and the black neckerchief which we wear today find its roots in being originally made from blackout material and being trimmed with red edging to brighten it up.
In 1965 the Group obtained the land where we meet today and built the present HQ with both leaders, parents and young people all working on the building. The Scout Hut was then extended to its present state some years later.
All the leaders and supporters dedicate their time free of charge and so are grateful for whatever support may be offered to help deliver the scouting programme. The Scout HQ is maintained by members of the Scout Group, supporters and parents, and due to general wear and tear, maintenance is often required, so if you have or can help obtain the specialist skills of an electrician, plumber, joiner we would love to know!
